Meet Our Founders
The creative force behind three decades of theatre education excellence
MIA SOLE
President & Founder

Mia Sole is a theatre artist, educator, designer, and entrepreneur whose life's work is rooted in creativity, connection, and joyful learning. As the Founder and President of Play-Ground Theatre, Mia has spent over three decades bringing meaningful theatre experiences to children, educators, and communities.
Mia's artistic journey began with a deep love of performance and movement. She attended North Shore High School in New York, where she excelled as a student-athlete, earning numerous awards in volleyball and softball. She later moved to Colorado to study theatre at the University of Colorado Boulder, where her talent and dedication were recognized with a theatre award in 1989.
That same year, Mia founded Play-Ground Theatre with a bold vision: to create theatre that both entertains and educates young audiences while nurturing confidence, imagination, and emotional growth. Under her leadership, Play-Ground Theatre has inspired generations of children and supported countless educators through performances, workshops, and professional development.
Alongside her husband and creative partner, Jeffrey Haycock, Mia continues to expand the Play-Ground Theatre mission through educational publishing. Together, they produce children's coloring and activity books that support creativity and positivity, published on Amazon under the Keep It Positive For Kids brand.
Mia's creative expression also extends into the visual arts. In 2015, she launched Miangelo, a fine art and photography endeavor that reflects her abstract, expressive style. Whether on stage or on canvas, Mia often describes herself as an "ambassador of goodwill," known for her dynamic presence and joyful spirit - a blend she affectionately describes as Harpo Marx meets Aretha Franklin.
Through theatre, art, and education, Mia Sole continues to enrich the lives of children, families, and educators, using creativity as a powerful force for connection, confidence, and community.
JEFFREY HAYCOCK
Vice President & Founder

Jeffrey Haycock is a performer, musician, educator, and creative leader whose career spans more than three decades in the performing arts and arts-based education. As Vice President and Co-Founder of Play-Ground Theatre, Jeffrey is dedicated to using theatre, music, and play to help children build confidence, creativity, and joyful self-expression.
Jeffrey's artistic journey began in Boston, Massachusetts, where he discovered his love for music and theatre at an early age. After graduating from Wellesley High School, he studied theatre at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, where he received the Francis S. Basillian Award for Acting Excellence, recognizing his talent and commitment to performance.
Before fully entering the world of children's theatre education, Jeffrey built a successful career as a professional musician and performer. He was a founding member of Acoustic Junction, touring nationally and performing at renowned venues including Red Rocks Amphitheatre. He later continued his musical work as a member of The Vengers, bringing high-energy performance and audience connection to stages across the country.
Jeffrey's path shifted toward education when he met his creative and life partner, Mia Sole. Together, they founded Play-Ground Theatre with a shared vision: to bring interactive, meaningful theatre experiences to children while supporting educators with practical, joyful tools. Today, Play-Ground Theatre serves schools, libraries, and communities through touring performances, hands-on workshops, professional development trainings, theatre games resources, and consulting.
In 2021, Jeffrey and Mia expanded their mission through Keep It Positive For Kids, a publishing brand rooted in the belief that childhood should be filled with creativity, confidence, and fun. Their bestselling coloring and activity books provide screen-free, confidence-building experiences trusted by thousands of families.
With decades of experience in performance and creative education, Jeffrey continues to advocate for the arts as a powerful tool for learning, connection, and positivity - helping children and educators alike discover the joy of imaginative expression.
